2009 Race Results and Awards Policy

Results for each race should be posted on the Sunday evening of race weekend. Prior to them being posted to the series website they can be viewed at ChipTime Results.

For year end Series Awards will be awarded in Triathlon, Duathlon and Give-It-A-Tri in 5 year age groups. In order to be eligible for a series award you must have competed in at least four HSBC Triathlon Series races. Full details for the 2009 Race Results and Awards Policy are at the bottom of this page. Don't forget that you will get additional entries into our season long draw by completing a post race survey after each race.

Race Day Prizes and Awards

Races with over 150 registered two (2) weeks prior to race day will have a medal and personalized picture award for the top three (3) finishers in 5 year age categories. Races with under 150 registered two (2) weeks prior to race day will have a medal and personalized picture award for the top three (3) finishers in 10 year age categories. There will be top three (3) finishers awards for the Athena/Clydesdale categories for athletes under 40 years old and over 40 years old.

The HSBC Triathlon Series Race Day Awards - You Get To Personalize Your Award

After much discussion with the athletes and crew of the HSBC series, we have formulated a new and exciting system for the race day photo awards for the 2009 season. In the past, a photo has been printed by default for every age group award recipient. This practice has led to thousands of wasted photos over the past 3 seasons that were never picked up. Storage, handling and management of these photos reached a critical level this year and many photos went missing and still the thousands of left over photos remained. A new format for awards was required to alleviate this problem and we took the task very seriously. It is of the utmost importance both to the HSBC series and Mike Cheliak Photography that this fun and unique award be maintained for all the loyal HSBC athletes. The following information will outline the procedure for this season. Mike Cheliak Photography is happy to be the official series supplier of photographic services for the HSBC Triathlon Series. We will be providing on site event photography for the entire series and will be capturing time line action photos throughout each race as well as finish line photos. Race day photos are available for purchase online from our website. We use PayPal processing which is the largest provider of secure online payments in the world. We can also provide credit card over the phone purchases for those who prefer not to purchase online.

Series awards will be presented to the top three people in each age group who have accumulated the most points based on the following formulas. In order to be eligible for a series award you must have competed in at least FOUR HSBC Triathlon Series races of the same type (triathlon or duathlon). A tie for the Series Awards in an individual age group will be broken based using the following criteria and order. First, on the individual's results in the Wasaga Beach race. Second, head to head results in a race during the year. Third, by the person who has competed in the most MultiSport Canada races. Our year end awards day will be held in late October at the GoodLife Fitness Club, Unions Station in Toronto.

Points Standings

All races except those listed below are based on the following points:
1st -100pts | 2nd - 80pts | 3rd - 70pts | 4th - 60pts | 5th - 55pts | 6th - 50pts | 7th - 45pts | 8th - 40pts | 9th - 35pts | 10th - 30pts | 11th - 25pts | 12th - 20pts | 13th - 15pts | 14th - 10pts | 15th - 5pts

Award points will be structured differently for the following select races.

Gravenhurst International Distance Duathlon
Bracebridge Hal Iron Distance Events

Cobourg Olympic Triathlon
Cobourg International Distance Duathlon
Wasaga Beach Olympic Triathlon

These races will award points based on the following formula:
1st -150pts | 2nd - 130pts | 3rd - 120pts | 4th - 110pts | 5th - 100pts | 6th - 95pts | 7th - 90pts | 8th - 85pts | 9th - 80pts | 10th - 75pts | 11th - 70pts | 12th - 65pts | 13th - 60pts | 14th - 55pts | 15th - 50pts
